Flammability test to BS 6807 (1990/2006) on Tricover (polyamid) and Roll-Over (polyester) stockinette.
Through the years, TRICOVER and ROLL-OVER have been tested frequently. Of the eight ignition sources, the ones used in these test are, Ignition Source 2 (butane flame) and Ignition Source 5 (Crib 5). Moving up the ignition source scale, the heat intensity roughly doubles as compared to that of its predecessor.
The Ignition Source 5 test is more rigorous due to the increased intensity of heat which is generated from the wooden crib structure. Alcohol is added to the small piece of lint at the bottom of the crib which is then placed on the test rig and ignited within 2 minutes. For a pass to be recorded, all flaming should cease within 10 minutes. TRICOVER en ROLL-OVER tricot zijn herhaald met ontstekingsbron 5 (Crib 5) getest. Op deze schaal van ontstekingsbronnen verdubbelt ruwweg de intensiteit van de hitte bij iedere volgende stap.De ontstekingsbron 5 (Crib 5) test is ingrijpend als gevolg van de toegenomen intensiteit van de hitte welke opgewekt wordt door de opbouw van het houtstapeltje. Er wordt alcohol toegevoegd op het strookje stof op de bodem van het stapeltje. Het geheel wordt dan in de testopstelling geplaatst en binnen twee minuten aangestoken. Om aan de test te voldoen moeten alle vlammen binnen 10 minuten gedoofd zijn.
